Cloth Diapers Making a Comeback
Date: Wednesday, August 03 @ 20:59:10 EEST Topic: Kids
Cloth diapers these days are not what most people think of when they hear cloth diapers. Our grandmothers and mothers did not have much of a choice. It was flat diapers which required origami folding skills and pins, topped with a stiff scratchy rubber pant.
Today there is such a variety, Chinese prefolds, fitted diapers with snaps or Velcro, wool covers and pocket diapers. There is such a wide variety of materials, prints, and closures used on modern diapers. Fleece and microsuede are used in some diapers to wick away moisture from the baby’s bottom and help prevent rashes. Cloth diapers today are as much of a fashion statement as a pair of pants or shorts.
Most people forgo the diaper service and just wash them right at home. It is very easy and you never run out of diapers in the middle of the night and have to run to the store. Just throw in a load when you are starting to run low and you are all set.
Cloth diapers are making a huge comeback. There are very active message boards devoted entirely to cloth diapering. There is even a new group starting up to promote cloth called the Real Diaper Association. www.realdiaperassociation.org. They are starting up groups all over the United States to educate people about the benefits and use of cloth diapers.
Cloth diapering benefits our Earth, your baby’s health, and work at home mothers that make a living sewing and selling cloth diapers. Consider cloth when deciding on what brand of diapers to use for your baby.
