The good: She loved the pictures I framed for her-even wants to take one of them to work.
The bad: She fed the baby water with lemon with a straw at dinner. Ummm... not cool-the baby doesn't need water-especially not with other stuff in it. She's only 3 months old! She's getting everything she needs from me now!
The ugly: She was commenting on how the baby was feeding vigorously and said, "She must not be getting enough--she seems so hungry." She's been against my decision to breastfeed from the start, telling me to pump when the baby was 3 days old (read: milk production not established fully yet) to see how much she was getting. And now at three months, even though the baby is gaining weight well, she says she doesn't think the baby is getting enough--let me reiterate my comment from "the bad"--"She's getting everything she needs from me now!!!"
On top of that, we didn't leave there until 11. I try to get the baby in the car seat and leave while she's still feeling pretty good--not when she's so tired, all she does is cries. But invariably we can't leave there until the baby is fussing and MIL fusses at us to "get that tired baby home and in bed!" Listen lady, I tried to get her home, but you keep talking and talking and I'm trying soooo hard not to be rude and just walk out on you. Is that what it has to come down to?
